Since the launch of the Forge Initiative Programme we have gained an amazing amount of support for Brian Astbury, our Programme leader, and praise for the uniqueness of the Programme itself.
Notably, Stephen Moyer, English film and television actor best known for his role in the HBO series True Blood, has spoken about his enthusiasm for the Programme. On his website he says: "If you think this course is just about acting you would be very wrong. Brian Astbury could easily have titled the course – Everything you will ever need to know about Acting – and even then not have come close to describing its worth…I cannot recommend it highly enough.”
In 1990 Brian set up ‘Arts Threshold’ to help recent graduate Stephen Moyer, along with his peers including Julie Hesmondhalgh (Coronation Street) and Rufus Norris (Director of the National Theatre). The company gave graduating students an important stepping stone allowing them to establish themselves as employable actors, writers and directors in the industry. Since that time, Stephen has gone on to work in theatre as well as in various TV shows and films. He's also won numerous awards for his role as vampire, Bill Compton, in True Blood.
Twenty four years since the Arts Threshold was founded, Brian set up The Forge Initiative to give actors the practical skills to set up their own companies.
We are delighted with the support from Stephen Moyer for The Forge Initiative Programme. Read the full article here.
