Movement will be taught using three main methods.
A technique in which points of physical contact provide the basis for exploration through movement improvisation; it provides a focus on bodily awareness and physical reflexes rather than consciously controlled movements.
This directs attention to habitual movement patterns which are inefficient or strained and teaches you new patterns in their place, using gentle, slow, repeated movements, increasing students' awareness of themselves and expanding their movement repertoire.
Movement skills such as the Plastiques and Coordination technique teaching you to organically link and integrate energy and imagination with voice, physicality and text. The core book for this part of the course will be Steven Wangh’s An Acrobat of the Heart - the best introduction to the essential acting exercises of Jerzy Grotowski.
